I arrived in Cebu on a rainy evening. Not a heavy rain, rather soft and warm. It was actually a godsend after weeks of heat and drought. And i dont know why, but i liked the city from the start. And there is not even a special reason for it, because the city is neither beautiful nor is there much to see. It was just a feeling that suddenly came over me.
So after i unpacked my things at the hostel, i went for a short walk into the centre. I think that’s where i saw real filipino city life for the first time, far from the tourist hotspots. Children and adults sleeping on the street, fires nearby, the traffic, the traders and prostitutes, the music from courtyards and generally the hustle and bustle in every corner.

Ist das Coronavirus ein Thema bei Deiner weiteren Planung der Reiseroute?

Mittlerweile bin ich auf Borneo (im malaysischen Teil), danach geht es vermutlich über Singapur erstmal zurück nach Thailand… der Coronavirus ist schon irgendwie immer präsent, aber Einschränkungen in dem Sinne habe ich noch keine erlebt. Man bekommt am Flughafen oder Hotel öfter mal Fieber gemessen, was ich als Hypochonder aber ganz beruhigend empfinde 🙂 Direkt beeinflusst hat es aber meine Reiseroute BISHER noch nicht, hoffen wir, dass es so bleibt…
Es gab viele Touristen auf den Philippinen (zu meiner Überraschung ist die touristische Infrastruktur auch recht gut ausgebaut), aber in der Menge natürlich kein Vergleich zu Thailand oder Bali etc. Vorwiegend Asiaten, Australier und Europäer würde ich sagen… Amerikaner habe ich jetzt weniger wahrgenommen. Auf jeden Fall ein ganz tolles Land, vielfältiger als man denkt und nicht NUR Inseln und Strände!
