The Bangkok diaries: Creation

I’ve just returned from an afternoon shopping tour at Chatuchak Weekend Market, which reopened last week. This market is quite large and is divided into different sections, where you can find pretty much everything from underwear to incense sticks and from pets to (artificial) plants. I didn’t look for anything particular.

In a somewhat remote area there is also a section for art, offering paintings and sculptures. Most of the stuff did look really amazing and it was very unfortunate that there were hardly any customers who wanted to buy something. And i think that wasn’t a coincidence. The artists there are more likely to live in the shadows, since not many people can afford this kind of art, i guess. And it’s a shame, because i think this art has to be seen.

“The world should see it!”

Thats what a friend told me lately, when i showed him the map i created of my trip throughout Southeast Asia. And somehow this words and my impression from the market motivated and inspired me to publish this post and show some of my recent “works”.

Because it is not that i am drifting from day to day here in Bangkok during that lockdown, i rather always try to deal with something. And In addition to my photography and writing, i try to be creative and productive, as far as it is possible with my limited resources.

So below you can see some of the creative results of my past few weeks. A sketch, a collage, a painting and even a map. Because, as we all know, cartography is an art as well 🙂 I certainly don’t want to compare myself to the artists on the market (god forbid!), but i think it’s good enough to at least show it:
