The “International Weeks Against Racism” will take place in Munich from March 15 to 28. In this context, the queer youth organization diversity is organizing the digital exhibition “quARTeer” together with the activists from CatCallsOfMUC. It is intended to make the creative handling of LGBTIAQ * people with experiences of discrimination visible.
I took the opportunity and participated in the project with one of my works. It will be featured on Instagram (@diversitymuenchen, @catcallsofmunich) in the coming days. Actually, I had never seen the picture from the perspective of racism and/or discrimination, but on a closer look it hits the topic perfectly:

I painted this picture about 2 years ago and it was primarily important to me to create an “unusual” map of the world (hence the title…).
The interwoven and overlapping colored fields, symbolic for people, countries and continents, show on one hand the difference and otherness of each individual, but on the other hand the interrelation and unity of the whole.
Once, I picked up the saying somewhere, but found it very meaningful and integrated it into the painting. It’s so easy to say β¦ βbe nice!β Be kind, friendly and sympathetic. Sometimes you have a hard time doing this in a society where the weakest go to the wall. But ultimately this attitude is the foundation of a tolerant, open and colorful world.
